Around 3 am the other night, I woke up from a sound of a bird's twitter inside my room. I thought I was just dreaming, but there it is, perched on my dog's photo. I took a closer look and at the same time wanting to take its photo, it probably got scared and hid behind a statue of a lion on the shelf. I decided to leave it alone.
I'd be honest, my first impulse was to catch it, put it in a cage and have it as a pet. I have this bird cage kept since I previously have lovebirds as pets and nothing is as lovely as waking up listening to the sound of the birds chirping, but then I had a sudden change of heart. At that moment, I had a realization that a change of heart is far deeper and stronger than a change of mind. There are instances where we can challenge our thoughts or perhaps our decisions, but a heart convinced is something that can never be subject to contention. You knew instantly that you've made a firm choice.
When I was a kid, I used to play with a slingshot and I remember having a perfect view of a bird on a tree, I aimed and just when I'm about to take a shot, a voice within told me not to do it. I halted and recall having a calm and peaceful feeling thereafter.
Anyway, I didn't go back to sleep that night. I went online and watch some videos of ''Whose Line is it Anyway?'' on YouTube while the bird keeps flying from one place to another inside my room. I don't mind the mess, but I'm afraid it might poop on my bed though. When it landed on top of my laptop, I managed to grab it gently and went out to the rooftop to set it free but it wouldn't fly. It's just sitting there, comfortably on my hand. I remember my dad used to say that they're blind when it's dark so I went back to my room, let it stay there for a while as we wait for the sun to come up. When the sunrise approaches, I heard another bird outside my window and now both of them are chirping as if they're communicating. I look at it and saw it staring back at me then it suddenly flew out of the window.
Today, I woke and I heard the birds singing outside my window. I look outside and saw two of them on the wire. One of them looks like the one who paid me a visit that night. I told them that they're welcome to visit me anytime.
